Primary Cover Teacher and Cover Assistant Teacher roles
The British School of Gran Canaria (Tafira) is looking for a suitably experienced, qualified, and motivated individual to support our teaching team in a cover role for both teachers’ and assistant teachers’ absences.
The individual must be fluent in English, have experience of working with children, and be suitably qualified. Flexibility is essential. The role involves working with children from the age of 3–11.

Secondary Supply Teacher
The British School of Gran Canaria is looking for a suitably experienced and motivated individual to join our teaching team as a secondary supply teacher.

Primary Cover Teacher - Full Time
We are seeking a flexible and enthusiastic Primary Cover Teacher to join our school team, providing high-quality teaching cover during non-contact time for class teachers and subject coordinators. The successful candidate will work predominantly across Years 3 to 6, delivering engaging and effective lessons that ensure continuity of learning and uphold high standards of classroom management.
An interest or experience in teaching PE and Computing is highly valued, as these subjects will form part of the cover timetable.
- Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging lessons in a range of subjects, including PE and Computing.
Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
Support pupil progress and well-being through effective teaching practices
Provide planned teaching cover across the Primary phase, with a specific focus on Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6)
Collaborate with class teachers to ensure smooth handovers and consistent learning experiences
Uphold and promote the school’s values, policies, and ethos
- Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, iPGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification/experience
Experience teaching in Key Stage 2
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to different classes and subjects
Excellent communication and organisational abilities
An interest or experience in teaching PE and/or Computing is a distinct advantage
